VTU released Special Regulations for Current Intermediate Semesters, Current Terminal semesters and students with backlog subjects with regard to July/ August 2021 examinations. As per the latest announcement, VTU will promote UG & PG current intermediate semesters. Furthermore, the current terminal semester students get the benefit of open choice question papers. Moreover, the students who are ineligible to register for the next academic year, have the benefit of registering themselves. These special regulations are applicable to Affiliated, Constituent and Autonomous institutions of VTU.

UG & PG Current Intermediate Semesters
The following current intermediate students will be promoted
(i)BE/ BTech/ BPlan 2nd, 4th, and 6thsemester students.
(ii)BArch 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th semester students.
(iii)MBA/ MTech/ MArch 2nd semester students.
(iv)MCA/ MTech (part-time) 2nd and 4th semester students.
Conditions applicable to UG & PG current intermediate students
1.Your assessment is based on UGC guidelines.
2.You will be assessed based on your CIE marks and your performance in the immediate previous semester.
3.Your grades will be the sum of 50% marks on the basis of CIE and the remaining 50% on the basis of performance in the previous semester only.
4.If in case, you would like to improve your grade in any subject you may attend the examination conducted next and this will not be counted as an additional attempt. Also, you will be awarded the better of two grades.
5.If you fail in any subject, the scheme of "carry forward" is allowed and you are allowed to register for the next odd semester. However, you must pass the subject in the immediate two examinations conducted next to be eligible for vertical progression as per the University guidelines.
6.As per University guidelines, a minimum percentage of attendance is required for even semester students. However, due to the pandemic situation, the it is treated as 'deemed to be attended by all the UG & PG students.
UG & PG Current Terminal Semesters
The following current terminal semester students will adhere to the special regulations with regard to July/ August 2021 exams
(i)BE/ BTech/ BPlan 8th semester students
(ii)BArch 10th semester students
(iii)MBA/ MTech/ MArch 4th semester students
(iv)MCA/ MTech (part-time) 6th semester students
Conditions applicable to UG & PG current terminal students
1.The University will conduct all the UG & PG Examinations offline.
2.You will have Open Choice Question papers during July/ August 2021 exams.
3.Viva-Voce Examinations will be conducted online and both internal and external examiners will be from the same college. The reports of such Viva Voce examinations may be submitted in softcopy format and working of the experiments/ fabricated machines may be demonstrated through video recordings.
4.Backlog exams of current terminal semester students will be conducted offline and will have open choice question papers for July/ August 2021 only.
5.If you are unable to appear for the exam, you are given an opportunity to appear in the immediate exam conducted next.
6.If in case, you would like to improve your grade in any subject you may attend the examination conducted next and this will not be counted as an additional attempt. Also, you will be awarded the better of two grades.
UG & PG Students with Backlog Subjects
These special regulations are applicable to all UG and PG students with backlog subjects.
1.The University will conduct backlog examinations of all subjects of UG & PG.
2.The backlog examinations will be conducted offline.
3.You will have Open Choice question papers during July/ August/ September 2021 exams
4.If you are currently ineligible for admission to the next odd semester, you can attend the backlog examinations.
UG & PG Students Currently Ineligible for Admission to Next Academic Year
These are the special regulations applicable to UG & PG currently ineligible for admission to the next academic year.
1.You can attend the backlog exams
2.The backlog exams will be conducted offline.
3.You will have Open Choice question papers during July/ August/ September 2021 exams
4.You will be allowed to register for the next permissible odd semester.
UG Students of One Time Exit Scheme
These are the special regulations applicable to UG Students of One Time Exit Scheme (OTES)
1.If you have gained eligibility to attend examinations of any semester then you can attend the exam in offline mode.
2.You will have Open Choice Question papers for July/ August/ September 2021 exams only.
Internships
These special regulations apply for those students taking internships
1.Students are allowed to take up online internships.
2.Engaging the students to work as interns on ongoing projects.
3.The Internship start date to be delayed
4.The period of internship to be reduced.
