About the Webinar

Geological understanding is a prerequisite for any Civil Engineering project. A sound knowledge on type of rock, mode of formation, structural deformation is required to understand the rock’s load-bearing properties, compressive strength and other engineering properties. The sustenance of mega civil engineering structures like dams, tunnels, bridges etc. requires proper geological foundation. The recent incidents of Three Gorges dam, China and River Choluteca bridge intensifies the thorough understanding of terrain conditions. Further, the recent floods and landslides; building collapses in India envisages the collaborative work of Geologists and Civil Engineers for the sustainable development of the society. Thus, this webinar intends to understand the advancements in the field of Engineering Geology through the experiences of the eminent scientists/researchers working in the field. The webinar will also aid in bridging the gap between the theoretical and the practical experiences.
