VTU Circular on Lateral Entry Students Exam

If you are a lateral entry student, should you appear for the subject 17CIV18/28 or not. There has been confusion in the minds of students regarding this.VTU has released a circular that provides a clarification on this matter.We shall discuss the conditions under which a student has to appear for Aug/Sep 2020 exam for the subject 17CIV18/28.

Students who must appear for 17CIV18/28 Exam

2018 admitted lateral entry students whose CIE marks are already submitted during or before Jan 2020 exams and having "F" grade.

Students who need not appear for 17CIV18/28 Exam

2018 admitted lateral entry students whose CIE marks are yet to be submitted during Aug/Sep 2020 exams.

Calculation of grades for Students who don't appear for 17CIV18/28 Exam

Students whose CIE marks is yet to be submitted, need not appear for 17CIV18/28 exam. Such students grades will be calculated based on the average performance of immediate previous semester.

Who is it applicable to?

2018 admitted lateral entry students whose CIE marks are already submitted during or before Jan 2020 exams and having "F" grade.
It is applicable to the students admitted under lateral entry before 2018 and taken readmission to the 3rd semester during 2018.
