VTU Colleges to Reopen from 1st June 2020 as per VTU Official circular on 3rd May 2020.

In Continuation to the circular under reference (1) and (2), as we are all aware of the severe situation through which the entire globe is going through and Hon'ble Prime Minister of India has announced further 19-days total national lockdown with effect from 15th April, 2020, to avoid further spread of corona pandemics.
In view of the above and by the directions of our Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, we hereby instruct all the institutes to abide by these directions without any lapse. The holidays are extended up to 3rd May, 2020.
This is applicable to all the students, teaching and non-teaching staff, Guest faculty, contractual as well as outsourced persons of university and it’s Regional centers and also to all the Affiliated, Constituent and Autonomous colleges. The above period shall be counted as being on duty for all the staff members. However, all the staff members are hereby directed not to leave their Head Quarter and should be available on phone for any essential work. Further, the staff members are hereby directed not come out of the house and maintain the social distancing and cleanliness.
Colleges are also instructed to continue with online teaching sessions as well as internal evaluation.
More details as well specific instructions if any, will be informed to all, based on the directions those would be received from the Government. Meanwhile, all are hereby instructed to strictly follow the guidelines issued by district administration or State Government/Central Government issued time to time.

VTU Holidays Extended till 14th April 2020
As we are all aware of the severe situation through which the entire globe is going through and Hon'ble Prime Minister has announced 21-day total national lockdown with effect from 25th March, 2020, to avoid further spread of corona pandemics.
Our Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka has also specially requested for this quarantine. *By the directions of our Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, we hereby instruct all the institutes to abide by these directions without any lapse. The holidays are extended up to 14th April 2020. *
This is applicable to all the teaching, non-teaching, Guest faculty, contractual as well as outsourced persons of university and it’s the regional centres and also to all the Affiliated, Constituent and Autonomous colleges.
All are directed to follow the instructions given by Central and State Govts. in order to curb and control the spread of COVID-19.
The staff members must not leave the Head Quarter and should be available on phone for any essential work.
The online learning sessions for the students should continue and the details be submitted to the undersigned regularly.

VTU Declares Holidays Until 31st Mar 2020
As preventative measure to prevent the spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID- 19), Visvesvarya Technological University has declared the holidays to its offices at the Head Quarters, Regional Offices including PG Centers, NASD, Dandeli, Constituent, affiliated and autonomous colleges u p to 31-03-2020 with immediate effect. The above period shall be counted as being on duty for all the staff members. However, all the staff members are hereby directed to be present in working place and directed not come out of the house and maintain the social distancing and cleanliness.
Faculty members should utilize this period for
(1) Development of online content,
(2) Online teaching and evaluation,
(3) Preparing lesion plan and
(4) Develop instructional manual for the course to be offered during next academic year,
(5) Carry out research work and write article paper etc.
Further, teaching and non teaching staff are hereby directed to be present at their respective section as and when informed to be present. The Principal /Head of Sections are hereby informed to collect the mobile numbers of all the staff members working under them to contact in emergency situation. Students, who are still in the hostels, particularly foreign students, should be allowed to continue in their hostels and advised to take all necessary safety precautions. Meanwhile, all are hereby instructed to strictly follow the guidelines issued by district administration issued time to time. The colleges are hereby informed to open the helpline centre for COVID-19 and nominate the Nodal Officer and forward his details (Name, Mobile, email) to registrar@vtu.ac.in. The Guest house/Offices/Hostels coming under concerned colleges have to be kept sanitized and clean .

There is no official circular from VTU about any extension of holidays as of now.
A fake circular dated on 20.3.2020 regarding holidays up to 15.4.2020 for COVID 19 is being circulated in Social Media. Please note that it’s FAKE.

VTU allows the institutes to decide on providing holiday to the staff members.
This is in continuation of the circular cited above reference regarding declaration of Holidays from 14-3-2020 to 28-3-2020 in the wake of COVID-19. It is further clarified that , the institutes are free to decide regarding giving off to their staff members based on the local situation, subject to the following conditions .
i) College office should function as usual.
ii) Essential services should not be disturbed .
iii) The compensation for the academic sessions lost should be taken care of appropriately .
Further, Principals are permitted to take suitable decision based on essentiality, local conditions and order of the District Administration.

VTU declares holidays for 15 days due to coronavirus.Coronavirus is becoming an epidemic worldwide.In wake of the rising danger of Coronavirus, the Government of Karnataka has taken measures to curtail the spread of Coronavirus.
In view of the directions issued by the Govt. of Karnataka , vide Order No. ED 107 UNE 2020, Bengaluru dated 13.03.2020 and DTE/53/ACM(1)/2019-20 dated 13.03.2020 holidays are declared for students of all the affiliated, autonomous, constituent engineering colleges and PG Centres for fifteen days with effect from 14.03.2020 (viz. 14.03.2020 to 28.03.2020). However, college offices need to remain open and teaching, non- teaching staff wiII have to attend the college as usual. Further, if any specific directions are received from the district authorities regarding COVID-19, the same may be followed by the colleges and PG Centres.
The colleges and PO Centres need to compensate in this regard by planning for extra academic sessions later.

Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.
Why? Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick.
Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
Why? Droplets spread virus. By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19.
Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.
Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other infections
Stay informed on the latest developments about COVID-19. Follow advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority or your employer on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on whether COVID-19 is spreading in your area. They are best placed to advise on what people in your area should be doing to protect themselves.
