VTU Makes Kannada Mandatory

VTU makes Kannada mandatory for BE in a recent circular.Kannada language will be prescribed as a compulsory credit course for BE, BArch & BPlan. Furthermore, passing Kannada is a criteria to promote students to next semester. While students who already know Kannada may not find any difference. However, students who do not know kannada this could be challenging along with Engineering Degree.

Non-Kannadigas may find it challenging.Learning a new language along with engineering subjects can add to the stress. All these years Kannada was an optional subject for students. Also,it was not mandatory to pass Kannada to be promoted to the next semester. But, from this year onwards this is going to change. Passing Kannada is being considered as a parameter to promote students to the next semester.

As the Official VTU Circular reads "Kannada Language shall be a head of passing and shall be considered for the vertical progression of students from an even semester to the subsequent odd semester".
